Investing should feel calm — even when markets are not.

Most investors don't underperform because their plan was wrong. They underperform because fear took over at the wrong moment. My work is to keep that from happening.

"I don't think investing is about the math. I think it's about the person. Context belongs at the centre of every plan."

My approach

The piece that's missing from most financial advice

Traditional financial advice does many things well. It builds plans. It constructs portfolios. It tracks performance. But there's a critical element missing from most advisory relationships and it's where the biggest, most preventable mistakes are made.

That missing element is behaviour.

Most investment mistakes don't happen because a plan was poorly designed. They happen because fear takes control in moments of stress. When markets fall or bad news dominates the headlines, the human brain shifts into fight-or-flight. And since no one can fight the market, the instinct becomes flight: selling, hiding, or abandoning long-term strategy altogether.

"This isn't a failure of intelligence. It's a lack of context."

Without understanding why something is happening and what it actually means, uncertainty becomes threatening. Emotional decisions feel urgent. And long-term plans are sacrificed to short-term fear.

My work is built around one core belief: context belongs at the centre of financial planning. When investors understand what's happening, why it's happening, and how it connects to what they own, fear naturally loses its power. Headlines turn back into events. Urgency softens. Clarity returns.

The methodology

Four pillars that lead to alignment

A framework I use with every client, in every conversation. It's how clarity actually gets built.

PILLAR 1

Knowledge

Financial literacy is the foundation of confident decisions. I walk you through what you actually own, why, and what tax and structural choices are working in your favour — and which aren't.

PILLAR 2

Context

Your strategy doesn't stand alone. I align it with where you actually are in life — your business, your family, your transitions — and with what's happening in the world around you.

PILLAR 3

Clarity

Financial complexity gets broken down into clear, actionable next steps. No black boxes. No jargon. No insurmountable spreadsheets — just the next decision, and why it makes sense.

PILLAR 4

Alignment

From growth to retirement, downsizing to estate transfer — every recommendation is calibrated to what matters most to you. The plan reflects your values, not just your spreadsheets.

What we work on together

Comprehensive, integrated, and quietly thorough

Most clients need more than one of these and most are not getting them in a single conversation today.

Investment Planning

Portfolio strategy, risk-aligned asset allocation, and ongoing rebalancing — including segregated funds for capital protection and estate efficiency.

Retirement Income Strategy

Building a withdrawal sequence that survives market volatility, tax-efficient drawdown structures, and CPP/OAS optimization for the income you actually want to live on.

Tax & Estate Integration

Coordinated work with your accountant and lawyer. Probate planning, beneficiary structures, and incorporation strategies that work together rather than in isolation.

Risk & Insurance Review

Disability, critical illness, life, and corporate-owned insurance — sized to your actual risks, not industry averages. CLU®-level expertise where it matters.

Business Owner Planning

Holding company structures, creditor protection, owner compensation strategy, and eventual succession or sale planning. The integrated work most banks aren't equipped for at the branch level.

Life Transitions

Career change, divorce, inheritance, retirement, downsizing. The moments when financial decisions feel heaviest are exactly the moments where calm, contextual advice makes the biggest difference.

Who I work with

I work with a carefully chosen group of families and business owners.

Not because of a quota, but because I intentionally limit the number of clients I take on, ensuring each receives my full attention, thoughtful advice, and a commitment to doing the work properly.

Pre-retirees and retirees

Ages 55-72, focused on protecting what they've built and turning a career's worth of savings into a calm, sustainable retirement income. Real estate and cash flow enhancement strategies, allowing you to live where you choose without sacrificing your lifestyle.

Incorporated business owners

Working through holding company strategy, creditor protection, business buy-sell funding strategies, and the integrated tax/investment/insurance work most bank branches aren't licensed to handle.

Professionals in transition

Doctors, lawyers, accountants, and senior professionals navigating career shifts, succession, divorce, or inheritance — moments when context matters most.

About Tannis

An independent practice, by design.

MacLean Rowe Financial has been serving clients since 2004, built as an advisory partnership model, and a practice I remain proud of. Over those years, consistent patterns emerged across client relationships: the behaviours that derail financial plans, the decisions made during market stress, and equally, the principles I offer that reliably lead people to clarity and confidence.

That experience became the foundation for something more defined. Rowe Wealth Management was launched in 2019 as a dedicated practice built around a structured four-pillar model, providing clients with a clear, transparent process, visible steps and a guided path forward. It's not just advice; it's a framework you can see and follow.

Independence is central to that. Without corporate mandates or institutional constraints, the guidance you receive reflects one thing only — what's right for you.

I hold the CFP® designation (financial planning) and the CLU® designation (the Canadian credential for insurance and estate planning). Together, these designations allow me to provide integrated advice across investing, tax, estate, and insurance planning—bringing all the pieces together in one conversation with one advisor.

I'm a member of Advocis, Canada's association for financial advisors committed to professional excellence and ethical conduct. I work primarily with families and business owners across the Lower Mainland, including North Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Delta, and Vancouver.

If any of what you've read here resonates, the next step is a Clarity Conversation. It's 30 minutes, on the phone or video, and there's no pressure of any kind.

The Clarity Conversation

A 30-minute call. No preparation required. No pressure of any kind. Just a thoughtful look at where you are, what you're thinking about, and whether I'm the right advisor for you.

My promise: if I'm not the right advisor for you, I'll tell you in the first ten minutes and we'll both get the rest of our time back. If I see something worth flagging in your current setup, I'll point it out — whether or not you ever become a client.
